Mimmo Totaro: mostra personale "La Dimensione Nascosta"

Mimmo Totaro è nato a Como nel 1948.
Frequenta il Politecnico di Milano.
Nel suo studio l’artista affianca  scultura, pittura, architettura e  grafica.
Dal 1971, anno della sua prima personale, partecipò a numerose mostre in Italia e all’estero ed ha esposto alla 10° Biennale de la Tapisserie di Losanna (CH), a Lodz (PL) e Szombathely (H). Dal 1991, insieme a Nazzarena Bortolaso, organizza annualmente la rassegna d’arte Tessile contemporanea “Miniartextil”, unica nel suo genere in Italica e tra le più accreditate a livello internazionale.  Giovedì 17 maggio, alle ore 18.00, aprirà la sua  mostra personale “La dimensione nascosta” presso la Ex Chiesa di San Pietro in Atrio a Como  curata dal prof. Luciano Caramel. Il percorso della mostra vede la presenza di una ventina di opere con lavori di grandi e medie dimensioni. Inoltre verrà  proposta al pubblico  una video installazione che illustrerà il percorso   artistico del maestro dagli  anni Settanta ad oggi. La sua prima mostra personale comasca risale   fu   presentata dal designer elvetico Max Huber e successivamente l’artista intraprese una fitta carriera incontrando personalità illustrati come Mario Radice, Aldo Galli e Eli Riva. Dalla grafica degli esordi, caratterizzata da assoluta precisione e delicatezza,  i principi fondamentali delle opere di Totaro hanno trovato la spazialità con la terza dimensione: i suoi tratteggi si sono trasformati in fili, corde e legni, moltiplicando  emozioni e sensazioni. Ciò che permane nella ricerca dell'artista è sua la proposta di molteplici interpretazioni. Quando gli fu chiesto di realizzare un ventaglio  creò un oggetto che poteva servire a molteplici scopi  meno che farsi aria, così come quando gli fu chiesto di realizzare una valigia che venne plasmata con del filo spinato.   Mimmo Totaro non vuole descrivere le sue opere ma vuole che sia l’osservatore a trovare il significato  che più desidera in base al proprio essere poiché non esiste un’unica chiave di lettura nelle opere del maestro.  Mimmo Totaro vuole andare oltre l’impatto visivo ed ama sperimentare. Oltre alla struttura, ai  fili e alla proposta di   forme spesso astratte offre ad ognuno la possibilità di scoprire ed ampliare il concetto di arte. La mostra di Mimmo Totaro prevede il coinvolgimento di una seconda location di grande prestigio poiché  verrà esposta, nel meraviglioso giardino botanico di Villa Carlotta Tremezzo, la scultura Wanda  (300x50x300 cm), realizzata con reti elettrosaldate e corde.

Mimmo Totaro was born in Como in 1948.

Since 1971, the year of his first solo exhibition, he had many  in numerous shows in Italy and in Europe, and has presented at 10 th Biennale in Lausanne (CH), in Lodz (PL) and Szombathely (H). Since 1991, along with Nazzarena Bortolaso, organizes the annual exhibition of contemporary textile art "Miniartextil". Thursday, May 17, at 18.00, will open its exhibition "The Hidden Dimension" at the Church of San Pietro in Atrio in Como organized by Arte&arte and introduced by the art critic  Luciano Caramel. The exhibition shows the presence of twenty works with large and medium-size. It will also be given to the public a video installation that illustrate the artistic master's from the seventies to today. His first solo exhibition  in Como was presented by designer Max Huber  and then he started  an extensive career with great artists as Mario Radice, Aldo Galli  and Eli Riva. From the graphics of the early years, characterized by absolute precision and delicacy, the basic principles of Totaro’s work  found the space with the third dimension: its hatches turned into wires, strings and woodwinds, multiplying emotions and feelings. What remains in the artist's research is his proposal of multiple interpretations. When he was asked to create a fan he made  an object that could serve multiple purposes unless you take the air, as when he was asked to carry a suitcase he  molded with barbed wire. Mimmo Totaro not meant to describe his work but he wants the viewer to find meaning she most wants according to his own being as there is one key to reading the works of the master. Mimmo Totaro wants to go beyond the visual impact and loves to experiment. In addition to structure, wires, and the proposal to abstract forms often offers everyone the opportunity to explore and expand the concept of art. The exhibition of Mimmo Totaro provides for the involvement of a second location: in the botanical garden of Villa Carlotta Tremezzo will be a sculpture Wanda (300x50x300 cm), made of welded wire mesh and ropes.
